Here's my quick little shopping trip I did this afternoon to grab my $5 Unilever catalina!
I spent $23.47 out of pocket after my $5 Coca-Cola catalina and all my other coupons, plus I have $2.20 coming back from rebate apps as well.
That's a final price of $21.27 for everything -- not counting my $5 catalina, which I can use on a shopping trip in October.
And I saved a total of $28.61 off original HEB shelf prices -- so that was a savings of more than 50% off, which is what I always shoot for when I head to the store!
Some of my items didn't require coupons, but here's a breakdown of the items that did in case anyone wants to duplicate these purchases:
- Tresemme Shampoo and Conditioner -- priced at $3.88 each, with a $5 catalina printing when you spend $15 before coupons. I bought four bottles for a pre-coupon price of $15.52. Then I used my $2 off $8 HEB text coupon (if you didn't receive this, it went to select folks last week who opted into text messages when they signed up for the HEB mobile app) along with two $5 off 2 coupons from the 9/27 Red Plum insert. So I paid $3.52 out of pocket, and then I received my $5 Unilever catalina to use later in October. Next, I can submit for the $1 SavingStar rebate (limit one redemption per app.) So when all is said and done, this was like getting PAID $2.48 to buy all four bottles!
- St. Ives Body Lotion -- priced at $1.50 each. I used the $1.50 off coupon from the 9/27 Red Plum insert to get this for FREE. Then, I can submit for the $1 SavingStar rebate (limit one redemption per app.) It's a $1 money-maker!
- HEB Toasted Oats -- priced at $1.98 per box. I used the $1 off yellow coupon available in stores and paid 98 cents out of pocket, plus I can submit for the 20 cents Ibotta rebate good on ANY brand of cereal. So my final price is just 78 cents.
- HEB Nonfat Milk -- priced at $1.50 per quart. I used my 50 cents off digital HEB coupon and paid a buck for it instead.
- HEB Brown Sugar -- 2 lb bag priced at $1.38. I thought I had selected a 50 cents off digital HEB coupon but apparently I had a mental lapse at the computer this afternoon, and never actually put it on my app. So this SHOULD have been 88 cents but I accidentally paid full price. Whoops!
- Butternut Squash Zig Zags -- on 50% markdown, so I paid $1.99 for these instead of $3.98. And there's a $1 off coupon inside for me to use next time!
- Daisy Low-Fat Cottage Cheese -- priced at $2.96 per container. I used the 50 cents off coupon from the 8/02 Smartsource and got mine for $2.46 instead.
- Buddig Deli Chicken -- priced at $3.48 per pack. I used the 75 cents off coupon from the 8/16 Smartsource insert and paid $2.73 for mine.
- Premier Protein Chocolate Shakes -- 4-count packs priced at $7.99. I used the $4 off coupon from the 9/13 Smartsource insert and paid just $3.99 for mine.
I also bought two Ready Pac Salads, a bag of hard-boiled eggs (impulse; I was hungry!) and a loaf of wheat bread for full price.

My HEB said the St, Ives lotion was a trial size so I couldn't use the $1.50 off coupon and get it free. Did your coupon scan?
ReplyDeleteYes, it sure did! I think some stores are definitely puzzled by that coupon -- but in my mind, if something isn't shelved in trial/travel at HEB, it's not a trial/travel item!
DeleteI just realized that I didn't receive my $5 Catalina coupon. Can I ask the manager to help me with this or is it too late?
ReplyDeletethis happened to me too the st ives didnt scan and they said because it is trial/travel size
ReplyDeleteI went online to check and as it turns out....the 1.50 st ives is 2 oz which is the trail size. :(
ReplyDeleteJust thought I would let you know.
