I am loving this Corn Flakes score that kicks off at HEB on Wednesday, August 21!

If you're not familiar with how piggybacking works, go here before you read any further.
That how-to guide is essential in understanding the following scenario:

  • Kellogg's Corn Flakes -- 18 oz boxes priced at $3.28 each, with a yellow coupon available in stores starting 8/22 for a free jar of HEB Made in Texas Peanut Butter with purchase.
  • HEB Made in Texas Peanut Butter -- 18 oz jar priced at $2.37 apiece.
  • Buy two boxes of Corn Flakes and one jar of peanut butter.  All three items will ring in at a pre-coupon price of $8.93.
  • Use your yellow coupon for the free peanut butter FIRST.  That knocks your price down to $6.56 for all three items.
  • Next, piggyback two of this $1 off Kellogg's coupon (points required.)  Remember, you aren't stacking coupons in this scenario -- you are buying three items, and using three coupons.
  • Your final price drops to $4.56 for all three items, or just $1.52 apiece!
And as always, I recommend you have a copy of the current HEB coupon policy printed or pulled up on your phone when you go to check out.

Even though piggybacking is specifically permitted in the HEB coupon policy (as of over four years ago, actually!) some cashiers are still not aware of how the policy works.

And trust me, you will save yourself a lot of aggravation if you can refer to it right away at the register!
